New programme tailored specifically for learning disability and autism support providers with ARC England
At My Home Life England we’re delighted to have teamed up with ARC England, the membership association for learning disability support providers, to develop a unique Leadership Support and Development Programme that is specifically tailored for staff in the learning disability and autism sector.
This bespoke programme is an exciting opportunity to bring together different leaders and managers working in learning disability and autism services, many of whom are facing similar pressures unique to their area of adult social care.
The 6-month programme is designed for busy leaders, providing the opportunity to reflect, build capacity and resilience, with a focus on supporting positive practice and quality of life for the people that these leaders support.
It’s open to leaders who work alongside people with learning disabilities, autism or other additional needs – Registered Managers, deputies and practice development leads.
About the programme
At My Home Life England we have over 17 years’ experience designing and delivering leadership support programmes that reflect the complex challenges faced by operational leaders within adult social care.
Analysis of transformational change from a recent sample of other MHLE programme participants revealed that: ‘98% said that the quality of their management and leadership had increased’.
Working with a team of experienced facilitators and coaches, we have created this leadership support programme that is practical, evidence-based and full of hints, tips and ideas for participants to try out in the workplace. It provides a rare opportunity leaders whose focus is working alongside people with learning disabilities, autism or other additional needs to reflect and learn in a group.
The programme comprises of in-person workshop days, virtual sessions and Action Learning Sets.
The expertise and experience of participants helps shape the content of the programme, particularly in the facilitated action learning sets, where participants identify issues to explore and learn together through appreciative enquiry.
The content of the programme is designed to:
- Improve confidence and resilience, both personally and professionally.
- Improve engagement and involvement for people who use support services and those connected with them.
- Improve leadership and responsiveness to rapid change during times of unprecedented workforce pressures and financial challenges.
- Improve practice including consideration of equality, diversity, inclusion and human rights.
- Provide reflection and connection back to regulation requirements, local systems and relationships.
Clive Parry, ARC England Director, said:
“As the membership association for learning disability support providers, we at ARC England know that to retain the great leaders that already work in our sector, to attract the leaders that currently work elsewhere and to develop and nurture the leaders of the future who are already within the sector doing different jobs, we need to create the space within which we acknowledge the amazing work that they do.
We believe that our My Home Life England and ARC England Leadership Support and Development Programme provides the tools, space and environment for our sector leaders to properly reflect, process and grow.”
