Welcome to the new My Home Life blog

Hello and welcome to our new blog and our first ever blog post!

On this blog we want to host stories from people who are working in and around care settings every day. All residents, relatives, staff, and visitors are welcome to contribute – as are those from the wider health, social care, housing networks (including commissioners) that work with care homes. We’ll also occasionally feature points of view from regional and national organisations.

What we’re interested in

We’re interested in hearing about all the beautiful moments in care – from the smallest thing that has made a difference to just one of your residents – to the huge projects which took months of planning. One of the things that makes a real difference in the conversations we have is being able to relate back to what is happening in real life, in our care homes, everyday all over the country.

We might occasionally suggest that you change a few details to protect identities – but if you have a real story about good quality of life in care homes, we won’t say no.

We want to hear from you

If you’re thinking that you’ve got a story that you’d like to share- something exciting happening in your care home – or some really good tips that have been really helpful to you – but there’s no way you have time to write a post (or blogging really isn’t your thing) – then let us know. We know how busy life in care homes can be and how difficult it is to justify the time to do something (anything!) else.

We’re happy to have a quick chat with you on the phone, ask you a few questions about the story you’d like to share. Then we’d write it up as a post, run it past you to check you’re happy and put it up on the site for you.

We’re really  keen to hear your stories so if you’re doing something in your care home or local area that you’d like to share, please get in touch on 0207 040 0260 or mhl@city.ac.uk
