MHL England

Professor Julienne Meyer – Executive Director

Julienne is a registered nurse, qualified teacher and leads research and development in quality of care for older people at City University London.

Julienne is the primary point of contact for issues relating to the Research strand of My Home Life.

Tom Owen – Director

Tom has been working with older people for 28 years as a campaigner, researcher and practitioner, beginning his career working in care homes.

Tom is the primary point of contact for issues relating to the Entreprise strand of My Home Life in England.

Jen Lindfield – Senior Development Officer & Social Action Lead.

Jen has working with older people and older peoples services all over the country for the last 6 years. Jen is now responsible for the social action strand of My Home Life.

Jen is the primary point of contact for issues relating to the Social Action.


MHL Scotland

Professor Belinda Dewar – Director

Belinda is a nurse, researcher and educationalist. She is the Director of My Home Life Scotland. Click here to learn more about the work Belinda is involved in.

MHL Northern Ireland

Dr Assumpta Ryan

With a background in adult and mental health nursing, Assumpta has a longstanding interest in the provision of care and support to older people and their families.   She leads the ‘Caring for Older People and Their Families’ strand of the Person-centred Practice Research Centre at Ulster University.  She is currently leading a Knowledge Transfer grant aimed at improving quality of life in care homes in Northern Ireland through the operationalising of the MHL themes.

Sarah Penney

Sarah is a nurse with experience of health care project management and as a care home manager. She has experience of developing care home approaches to dementia care though environment design and staff development. Sarah is the project manager for the Improving Quality of Life in Nursing and Residential Homes in Northern Ireland Project which uses the MHL themes and Leadership Support programme.

MHL Cymru (Wales)

Suzy Webster – MHLC Programme Officer

Suzy has worked in the social care sector all of her working life and has a passion for working alongside care homes to share good practice and highlight the wonderful work that often goes unrecognised.

Suzy’s work is also informed by her experience as a relative visiting her Grandma in a care home and her current experience of caring for her Mum who lives with dementia.


MHL Leaders

Our team of expert leaders work directly with care home managers and representatives of statutory organisations. Among other activities, these leaders facilitate and deliver the Leadership Support and Integrated Care programmes as part of our Transformation Package.

My Home Life leaders include:

Jackie Draper’s area of expertise is transformational change and she takes a systemic and appreciative approach to organisational, team and individual development.

Jan Hennessy has considerable experience in organisational development, consulting & coaching and currently leads work for My Home Life in South Derbyshire and South Gloucestershire.

Danuta Lipinska is an MBACP (accred.) and registered therapist and freelance trainer currently delivering Leadership Support to managers in Northern Ireland and Suffolk. 

Mycal Miller is an experienced trainer and facilitator with particular interest in dementia care and developing communication skills.

Steph Palmerone has worked in health and social care for over 25 years, having qualified originally as an occupational therapist and supports My Home Life’s Integrated Care strand.

Sarah Reed is a dementia communication specialist and consultant to My Home Life offering her long experience in design and marketing communications.

Jude Ryan is an experienced workforce development consultant, facilitator and accredited coach she works with individuals, teams and organisations and has been involved in the MHL project since 2014.

Annie Stevenson is an independent expert in care, a founder of My Home Life and leads on our work relating to Integrated Care.

MHL Associates
